A wise one gains benefits by achieving his dreams. An unwise one gains pain in life and wastes his life by achieving his dreams.
A useful thing becomes useless when you do not know how to use it. So are the thoughts that come to you during meditation. So are pains in life. So is everything you experience.
A car can be helpful or harmful to you depending on how you use it. Likewise, your family members, friends, co-wokers and other people you meet in your life can be helpful or harmful to you depending on how you deal with them.
