A side effect of mindfulness

An incorrect use of mindfulness can result in undesirable effects. One can meditate to relieve or eliminate the symptoms of life pain without addressing the cause. Then the cause remains and continues to create more problems in life. It is like silencing a fire alarm without putting off the fire.

Why is this a cup?

Because the mind sees it in that way.

Why is he good?

Because the mind sees it in that way.

Why is he bad?

Because the mind sees it in that way.

Why I am right but others are not?

Because the mind sees it in that way.

Treasure in Trash Bin

Words that you rejected and dumped in a trash bin when some people spoke to you because of anger, disagreement, different viewpoints or other reasons can lead you to liberation and healing.

Growing Persimmons on an Apple Tree

One who planted an apple tree waits for persimmons on the tree but gets only apples. He tries everything but persimmons never grow on the apple tree.

Insights in the Early Stage

Body tension, constricted breathing, urge to move, busy mind, mind wandering, calmness, distraction, noise.

Breath becomes long/deep on its own when you are aware of your breath. Body becomes relaxed when you are aware of your breath. Mind becomes calm and free when you are aware of your breath.

Mind operates on its own without your permission. Mind is seeking pleasure. Mind does not know but believes to know. Mind making critical errors. Mind creating pain in life.

Two Kinds of Scratching

Scratching that is done by choice.

Scratching that is driven by an urge without awareness and choice.

Believing

Believing means you do not know.

When you know, you do not need to believe.

Believing and Knowing (2)

After reading a book telling the earth is formed four billion years ago, accepting the words to be true is believing.

Realizing that you are believing is knowing.

Realizing that you do not know whether the event stated in the book actually happened or not four billion years ago is also knowing.

Knowing Information, not Event

When reading a book telling the earth is four billion years old, you know the information about the event but not the actual event.

In Pleasure

Pain in Pleasure.

Anger

Being angry at someone is like blaming and being angry at the weather when a weather forecast failed to predict it correctly.

A mouse caught in his thought trap

A mouse firmly believes that he will be happy if he eats mouse bait.

A driver caught in his thought trap

A man keeps pressing the break pedal in his car and blaming the car for not running.

He believes that he is doing right thing and the car is wrong.

Caught in a thought trap of right and wrong

One believes he is right while wrong are others who he disagrees with.

Knowing When

You can not know when you believe to know.

You know when you drop the belief.

Upon Encountering Life-Pain

One who seeks the cause of the life-pain in one’s own actions is liberating oneself from the life-pain.

One who blames others is inviting more pain to one’s life.

I Overdose

Just like too much vitamin A in the body becomes toxic, preoccupation of I my me mine in the mind becomes toxic.

Overcoming I Overdose

Ask yourself daily:

In the morning: “How do I benefit the people I will meet today?”

In the evening: “How did I benefit them?”

Seek Pleasure Find Pain

Two Kinds of Relationships with Desires

Being hostile to desires.

Being friendly to desires.

When a desire arises, either crush or obey it.

When a desire arises, just be with it.

When to change your life direction

When your life does not improve no matter what you do.

When knowing you are heading a wrong direction.

Police and Thieves

Police work according to the laws of a nation.

Thieves work according to the laws of nature.

What do a falling apple and a thinking mind have in common?

Both act according to the law of nature.

No Such thing as my body

“This is my body.” This is just a belief in the mind.

There is no such thing as my body.

You can not find any single element that you own in the body, which is supposedly yours.

No such thing as my thoughts

“This is my thought.” This is just a belief in the mind.

There is no such thing as my thoughts.

No thought is produced alone without others.

Dark World nurtures Bright World

Like the ground nurturing trees, dark world nurtures bright world.

Brightness comes from Darkness

Like dark impure soil becomes a bright pure flower, darkness, impurity, unhappiness and ignorance become brightness, purity, happiness, liberation and enlightenment.

If you do not want to bring pain to your tummy, know what to eat and what not to eat.

If you do not want to bring pain to your life, know what to think and what not to think.

Thoughts that Bring Pain in One’s Life

Believing to know what one does not know.

Believing oneself is right but wrong are others who the one disagrees.

Wanting to eliminate only the symptoms of life-pain while leaving the cause.

Wanting the world or others to change for one’s own benefits while not wanting to change oneself for the world or others.

Blaming others.

Believing to know the cause of life-pain that one does not know.

Wanting what one can not have.

Wanting to gain from others but have no interest in benefiting them.

Seeing faults of others while blinding to one’s own faults.

Thinking as if one will live forever while heading to death.

Knowing that heals

Knowing the contradiction when you are believing to know what you do not know.

Knowing the contradiction when you are believing to know the cause of life pain that you do not know.

Knowing the cause of life pain in one’s own actions instead of blaming others.

Knowing that others who you disagree are also right.

Knowing the cause of life-pain.

When to change your life direction

When your life does not improve no matter what you do.

When knowing you are heading a wrong direction.

Old Direction Vs New Direction in Life

Automatic: Let the mind and body operate automatically without the awareness and choice. Mind and body operate with awareness and choice.

Who is right: I am right but wrong are others who I disagree or dislike. I am right and others who disagree also right.

Mind: mind is never seen and forgotten. Mind is always seen.

Dealing with life problem: Making symptoms disappear. Address the cause.

Money: Chase money. Let the money follow you.

Pleasure: Mind constantly Seeking pleasure. Let the pleasure follows.

Relationship with Desire: Hostile. Friendly

Whose: thoughts are mine. Body is mine. Thoughts and body ours. (temporary phenomena)

Self-interest: more the better for onself. I-overdose is very harmful to oneself.

World view: it is created for my satisfaction. It is for everyone including current and next generation and other living beings.

Believing: Believing is knowing. Believing is not knowing.

Desire: Crush or obey. Just be with.

New day: Know nothing new. Know new.

Speak: To gain from others. To benefit others.

Thoughts: trapped in thoughts. Liberated from thoughts.

Thoughts and Pain: Not knowing what thoughts will bring pain in life. Knowing such thoughts.
